Howard Williams

Howard Williams was a quarry worker under Walker Hancock who was working on the rigging crew for the carving.

In 1966, Williams and Charlie Tucker were working on the scaffolding when one of the boards on which Williams was standing slipped unexpectedly. Williams fell four hundred feet to his death, striking the head of Stonewall Jackson on the way.
